CiYuan and NGO2.0 Co-Organized Corporate-NGO Partnership Training in Chengdu

On July 8-10, BSR's CiYuan team in collaboration with local Chinese nonprofit, NGO2.0, held two trainings to Chengdu companies and nonprofits on Corporate-NGO Partnerships. This was the third CiYuan training to business and NGOs on partnerships outside of Beijing. 29 participants from 25 nonprofits and 18 participants from 12 companies attended the training sessions and reported a significant increase in their awareness and knowledge of partnering with companies (or nonprofits) with over 75% indicating they feel more confident in building cross-sector partnerships. During the training we discovered that while around 31% of the Chengdu NGOs had experience partnering with companies, many of the local CSR, government relations or human resource practitioners from the corporate side are still in the process of establishing CSR programs with most focusing their efforts on corporate philanthropy or employee volunteering. The training enabled CiYuan to expand awareness of corporate-NGO partnerships and the fundamentals of CSR and strategic philanthropy to a second-tier city. Both corporate and nonprofit participants expressed their willingness for engaging with each other--and we will be exploring opportunities that BSR can further help facilitate cross-sector dialogue and exchange in Sichuan.
