December 11th, 2012
Earlier this year, BSR’s CiYuan Initiative helped B&Q and Friends of Nature (FoN) establish a partnership to promote green products and environmentally friendly options for home renovation. On November 23. FoN launched the second in phase of Low Carbon Household Renovation Project at B&Q Jinsiji Store. The project will build pilot households capacity of integrating low carbon technology in house renovation design and awareness of using green house renovation products.
At the Launch event, Steve McCoy-Thompson, Director of Operations, BSR, emphasized importance of using green home interior decoration products. In his speech, McCoy-Thompson compared buying green products to voting, that when customers come to B&Q, they are voting for safety and health of their families, the environment and a beautiful home.
The pilot between BSR, B&Q and FoN is the sixth Corporate-NGO partnership developed under CiYuan which trains B&Q’s designers and customers on methods for environmentally-friendly home-improvement. Over the course of 4 months, over 120 customers, 30 designers and store managers have received training on environmentally friendly house improvement theories and practices.
